Below is a list of my science fiction stories.
Schaefer's Integrity - (book now on sale) - click here for details - Mankind has reached the edge of the solar system, but not yet the stars. At the Kuiper Mining Colony, many space stations have been built to serve and sustain the distant community. Duncan Schaefer is a chef on a freight ship which makes a regular water-run. He contracts a strange virus and becomes embroiled in a dark arrangement between underhand traders. But the virus has an agenda of it's own, an agenda that may be linked to the origin of mankind and our place in the universe. Published by YouWriteOn & Legend Press and now available to purchase through Amazon.
The Voidant Lance (an Axiom Few story) - The Space Foundation enlists the help of the Axiom Few to use one of their inventions to save the Earth from an inbound threat. The team must use their invention correctly, but advice on the matter comes from an unexpected source. To be published in Jupiter SF Magazine, January 2010.
Remnants - Working on oil drills at the end of the world? Exciting in its way. Much more so, though, once the aliens came. This story was published in Reflection's Edge magazine, December 2008 and can be read online here.
Sighting FM - click here to read - An experiment in Flash Fiction. What might happen if UFOs appeared over Surrey.
The Darken Loop (an Axiom Few story) - An expired coffee voucher plays a key role in saving the lives of millions. If only the Axiom Few could sort out their differences to ensure it is used effectively. Published in Jupiter SF magazine, Issue 23 (Kalyke), January 2009.
The Detention Spore (an Axiom Few story) - Darken Loops are used to the nth degree in this tale of a virus that appears inside the walls of Scrub City, London's biggest prison. Available to read on this website.
The Ceres Configuration (an Axiom Few story) - A mysterious artifact is found buried in a distant asteroid, and fears are raised when a copy is found buried underneath London. Can the Axiom Few help save the world? Published in Jupiter SF magazine, Issue 4 (Callisto), April 2004.
The Daedalus Transfer - click here to read online - click here to download it as an eBook compatible PDF - My first science-fiction story. In the near future a message is received from Proxima Centauri 4.3 light years away. A massive operation is put into action to build a ship to send a crew of six to investigate the signal. They arrive after 150 years only to discover that the signal came from a very obscure and unexpected source.
Revenge Ltd - click here to read - How much does it cost to disconnect yourself from an act of revenge? Would you even want to get involved?
Version B - click here to read - Addicted to fizzy drinks? Maybe you're part of an experiment.
Galileo's Tides - click here to read - An advance team descends to the icy wastes of Europa to perform a well-test on a recently discovered oil reserve, but the mission presents an unexpected problem.
Axis - click here to read - What happens when a barman at the edge of space falls in with the shady world of 24th century narcotics. The story is a spin-off from my published novel Schaefer's Integrity.
EarthShatter - click here to read - A young man wakes up in hospital missing an arm. As he is interrogated by a police officer, he starts to piece together the events of the night before.
Wind Farm - click here to read - Dartmoor on a stormy night is not the best place to crash your car, but Adrian and Lily managed it. They walk to a nearby wind farm to seek help, but the owners are acting very strangely. This story was described by Gary Fry of Fusing Horizons as "...a good read..." and "...chromatic and strong..."
Bottle - click here to read - President Clinton bombed the El-Shifa Pharmaceutical Factory in Khartoum because he thought it had been used by Osama bin Laden to produce chemical weapons. When Timothy pays a visit to the bombsite, he decides to get himself a little souvenir.
Interrogation - click here to read - Maybe he drank too much the night before. He's woken up in the strangest room ever, and he's being asked a lot of questions he doesn't know the answer to. Or does he?
Red Dust Shroud - click here to read - The first manned mission to Mars touches down on the planet whilst a bitter religious war rages on Earth. What the team discover beneath the dusty surface of the red planet might make humankind look at itself in a different way.
Data Junction - click here to read - The first intergalactic data router is manned by two men who are perhaps not the sharpest tools in the box, but in the future, work like this is easy to come by. Some unseen force seems to be playing games with them though, and their Relief Ship is getting closer and closer, and is not responding to any of their communication attempts.
Binary Light - click here to read - Blaine and Hoyle are able to move objects out of the range of light. Perhaps this skill will help them trap their long-time adversary Carver. But in this game of relativistic cat-and-mouse, no one plays by the rules.
