'Interview with Edward Gosnell commencing four-fifteen pm on March 23rd 1973. Present are arresting officer Carl Gardner and myself Officer Jay Meeks. Mr Gosnell would you confirm your date of birth.'

'Yes sir, October 14th 1943.'

'Thank you. Please describe the events of the evening of February 20th leading up to the incident.'

'That evening my wife and I drove out to the Holy Road truckstop to meet with some friends and have some dinner.'

'What time was that exactly?'

'When we left? Or when we got there?'

'Both'

'We musta left around eight, got there about nine. Somethin' like that.'

'And when you arrived at the truckstop did you see any of the men who you allege later attacked your wife?'

'Brecker and Rosen were there, playing pool. I didn't really notice them at the time. They weren't botherin' no one, but later, later on I remembered that's what they was doin'. And thinkin' back on it, they were makin' eyes at Mandy, my wife, even before she went out to the parking lot.'

'And there was no sign of Jonathan Parry at this time.'

'No sir. I didn't see him arrive.'

'Were your friends already present at the truckstop when you and your wife arrived?'

'Yes they were.'

'And at what point during the meal did your wife go out to the parking lot?'

'The couple we were with, they'd invited me an' Mandy out to their farm the following weekend. We was all havin' a conversation about what was the quickest way to get out there. So Mandy went out to our pickup to get a map, to settle the discussion.'

'What happened next?'

'She didn't come back. That's what happened next.'

'How long did you wait before you went outside to look for her?'

'About fifteen minutes.'

'And at the time you went outside did you see Randy Brecker and Michael Rosen up at the pool table?'

'Huh, I know you're trying to catch me out sir. They weren't at the pool table when I went outside because they were already out in the parking lot trying to rape my wife.'

'Tell me what you saw when you got outside.'

'Well nothin' at first. All I saw at first was an empty parking lot. When I got to where my pickup was I didn't see Mandy so I started looking around. There were a few big trucks near the rear of the lot and I heard voices comin' from behind one of the vehicles.'

'Were the voices male or female.'

'A couple of male voices. So like I was sayin' I started to walk over there. I was gonna ask them if they'd seen my wife but when I got round there I saw all three of them.'

  'Who did you see?'

'Parry, Rosen and Brecker They had my...'

'For the record the names are Jonathan Parry, Michael Rosen and Randy Brecker. Is that correct Mr Gosnell?'

'Yes sir. They had my wife down on the ground. Brecker and Rosen were holding her arms down. Rosen also had his hand over her mouth to stop her making any noise. Parry, he was standing over her. Messing with his button-flies.'

'Did they see you arrive?'

'No sir, they weren't keeping a good lookout at all. I came round the side of the truck and they were down the other end near the back wheels.'

'The vehicle in question was over thirty feet long. And the light at the rear of the parking lot had a broken bulb. How can you be sure which two were holding her arms?'

'Sir I ain't blind. I've seen those men before. I knew which one was which. And besides, I ain't denying that I shot 'em, so what difference does it make?'

'We're just trying to establish all the facts of the case Mr Gosnell. What did you do next?'

'Well I was fuckin' furious by now. I was gonna just shout at 'em to get off her y'know, but I reckoned they would've tried to mess me up for catchin' 'em. So I went back to my pickup and got my shotgun. Loaded it up. Went round the other side of the truck. Parry was about to fuck her. He was getting ready to y'know, go inside. They'd hitched up her goddam skirt.'

'What did you do next?'

'I shot him.'

'You shot Jonathan Parry.'

'Yes sir I shot him in the face. Then I emptied one into the back of Rosen's head before either of 'em had a chance to react. I took Brecker out last. Mandy crawled away under the truck until I finished shooting. Now. Before you say anything I just wanna say I don't regret what I did sir. Not for one minute.'
